Tennis Elbow PDF Guide (1).png

What Causes Tennis Elbow?

Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, occurs when the tendons that attach to the outside of your elbow become inflamed. This usually caused by repetitive movements of the wrist and arm, which causes the muscles to pull on the tendons irritating them. While it's often associated with playing tennis, you don't have to play sports to develop this condition.

Tennis elbow can be caused by a combination of factors that include:

  • A sudden increase in sports, hobbies, gardening or work.

  • Repetitive strain from work such as typing to more manual jobs which require the use of tools and lifting.

  • Poor biomechanics of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and even the spine.
